Why Pets?
Pets play a vital role in tlbb. Without a good pet your damage will be lower and also its alot harder to play your role properly in team/groups as well as solo or PK. So essential you should see PETs as your arm or leg. Its a vital part for you to understand and get correct in your early career in playing.
The categories of pet I will list because you first have to decide what kind of pet you are building to know what skills to add, what pet to search for and why.
Damage Pet
This is the most common build of pet. Its a pet designed to dish our damage.
BUILD: Depending on what kind of pet you have if its physical attack then you should add ALL STR or if its spiritual attack then add ALL INT.
Support Pet
This build is for classes like Lotus Order and Tao which requires mana, but also Shaolin and other classes can build a support pet for hp.
BUILD: Add all stamina to support pets, no stats elsewhere or you cripple your build.
PK Pet
This is a pet designed for PK. Its better if you take a Cautious pet mostly for this.add Devotion as manual skill which transfer damage on you to the pet, Flexible reduces the damage on the pet helps to reduce the damage recieved from devotion,Distract reduces oponents defense and helps to get more attack on them,Weaken reduces oponents attack, these are primary skills SpiritDrain is helpful wihen pvp with taoist as it reduces their mp and make them weak,Calmdown reduces rage this skill can be used on your intrest.
SOLO Pet
This is a pet designed to help/assist you in solo exp. The best pets for this you need an essential skill which is counterattack and second the mood of your pet needs to be clever.
Pets which can auto-learn counter attack are crocodiles, boars, elephants and unicorns.
I think there are 1-2 others but this is an example.
Hybrid Pet
A Pet which is a mix of str/sta or str/agi etc... Hybrid pets are normally made to fulfill a specific role when you are lacking or weak in a certain area like to kill a certain boss or to provide damage and some heal etc...
Moods and inborn skills
A pet's mood and what they learn currently is absolutely essential in your build.
Brave - For pets which use skills like smash
Clever - For pets wich use skills like counter attack
Timid - For pets which use spiritual attack skills like thunder charm.
Cautious - For pets which use debuff skills like distract.
Loyal - For support pets this is vital. Loyal pets tend to agro mobs more in my
testing although this is theory its vital if you want a pet which holds mobs
while you can heal or help the group. If your support pet is not loyal it is
crippled in my opinion unless you just use it for mana refill or hp refill.
Further Examples
Understanding why moods are vital.
Tiger 1 (Brave) Str.Talent 2000 Level 50 with Smash Skill
Tiger 2 (Clever) Str.Talent 2000 Level 50 with Smash Skill
Tiger 3 (Loyal/Cautious) Str.Talent 2000 Level 50 with Smash Skill
Tiger 1 will cast smash about 10 times per minute. Assume smash is approx 2x
the normal attack.
In 1 minute if smash deals 5k damage you will deal 50k in damage.
Tiger 2 will cast smash about 7 times per minute.
In 1 minute if smash deals 5k damage you will deak 35k in damage (15k less than brave)
Tiger 3 will cast smash about 4-5 times per minute.
In 1 minute if smash deals 5k damage you will deal 25k in damage (25k less than brave)
how do we convert this to equiv talents?
Assuming the pet main skill is smash.
Brave real str.talent is 2000
Clever real str.talent is 1900 (Deduct 100 for simplicitiy)
Loyal/Cautious real str.talent is 1700 (Deduct 300 for simplicity)
So you can see don't be fooled when you buy a pet with high talent but the wrong
mood you can end up with a noob pet.
